Framing systems on NBS Source

voestalpine Metsec’s pre-eminence amongst architects and specifiers has been further reinforced by the uploading of the company’s SFS lightweight steel framing ‘through wall’ systems to NBS Source, the industry’s leading cloud-based construction product information system.

As well as being available through NBS Source, the product data can be accessed directly from the NBS Chorus specification writing system. voestalpine Metsec now have the capability of creating specifications in Uniclass and CAWS format on behalf of the specifier.

Drawing on voestalpine Metsec’s technical expertise, application knowledge and independent test data, the company’s NBS Source information will feature twelve key product systems based on sheathing board and internal board from the industry’s leading manufacturers.

Through-wall fire testing by UKAS-approved laboratories has been used to create performance data for a variety of wall constructions using voestalpine Metsec SFS in conjunction with various combinations of plasterboard (British Gypsum, Knauf and Siniat), sheathing board (Y-Wall, Glasroc X, Windliner, Weather Defence and Versaliner) and insulation (Rockwool Duoslab, Earthwool slab and Kingspan).

The result is a comprehensive library of more than 500 different permutations, each with relevant fire, strength and acoustic performance data, specification information and Uniclass coding, which will enable users to write specifications for steel framing systems with the minimum of effort and in a timely fashion.

Dave Atkinson, voestalpine Metsec’s Specification Manager for Framing, comments, “The product information we have prepared for NBS Source will allow the specifier to select the most appropriate wall construction based on performance and application requirements. A simple click of the ‘add to specification’ button will then place the solution into NBS Chorus, simplifying and speeding the specification process.

“Our comprehensive test data incorporates sheathing board, insulation and internal board from the industry’s leading manufacturers, thereby increasing the choice of wall construction available to the specifier and providing absolute freedom and confidence in the specification process.

“Naturally, our sales support team is available at any time should further advice on product selection and application be required.”

voestalpine Metsec’s content on NBS Source features third party certifications, including the UKCA standard, BES 6001 responsible sourcing of materials and BSI Kitemark for the company’s BIM offering, product systems, case studies, literature downloads and, of course contact information.
