New high performance zinc magnesium finish for cable management

Metsec Cable Management has introduced a new high performance Zinc Magnesium (ZM) finish to its ranges of cable tray, ladder and trunking systems as well as channel straights.

The new finish broadens the finishes available to the company’s range of cable management products and complements the existing material finishes, which include Pre-Galvanised (PG), Hot Dip Galvanised (HDG), Stainless Steel (SS) and Powder Coated.

ZM delivers a number of advantages over standard PG and HDG steel treatments. These include:-

Enhanced corrosion resistance – ZM coatings provide better corrosion resistance for the same, or less, coating thickness than PG or HDG, making them ideal for harsh environments where exposure to moisture, salt and alkaline might be expected, such as in water treatment, agricultural and coastal situations..

Reduced carbon footprint – ZM reduces the need for external galvanising and is generally lighter than HDG finishes, resulting in less material being used and often fewer production stages.

Longer lifespan – the ZM finish provide enhanced corrosion resistance and has self-healing properties, reducing the demand on maintenance regimes and ensuring that corrosion is less likely to spread, even from scratches and cut edges.
