CCPI assessment renewed

Metsec’s Purlins Division  has successfully completed renewed assessment to the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI) for its Light gauge galvanized steel purlins, side rails, mezzanine floor profiles and accessories. The initiative is aimed at providing greater confidence that product information and marketing are clear, accurate, accessible, up-to-date and unambiguous.

CCPI assessments are conducted on specific product sets and are undertaken by assessors appointed by Construction Product Information Limited. Each assessment lasts for two years. Having successfully undergone assessment in 2023, Metsec Purlins has recently made all necessary submissions for the successful renewal of its assessment.

The assessment covers the ‘Light gauge galvanized steel purlins, side rails, mezzanine floor profiles and accessories’ designed and manufactured by Metsec Voestalpine’s Purlins Division, a comprehensive range of sections, cleats, sleeves and accessories which comprises some 438 product variations.

In addition to dedicated information hosted on the Purlins section of the Metsec website, the company’s submissions included Declarations of Performance (DoPs), product literature, safety data sheets, installation details, BIM information, detailing sheets and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).

The CCPI assessment is made against up to eleven key clauses, as appropriate for the product set being assessed. These include information creation and competence, product information, existing certification, classification and/or industry approved standards and easily accessible website information such as descriptive and physical characteristics of the product as well as handling, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal information.

Compliance against each clause is assessed as fully met, partially met or not met, with Metsec Purlins achieving a fully met assessment against all clauses.

Alan Harris, Quality and BIM Compliance Director at voestalpine Metsec, states, “Once again, we are delighted to have achieved a ‘fully met’ assessment against all clauses of the CCPI assessment which apply to the Metsec Purlins product set.

“The renewed assessment vindicates our decision to establish a rigorous information review process to ensure that messaging from all divisions is based on accurate, verifiable data and that this information is presented in a clear and accessible manner which can be easily found and assimilated by its intended target audience.

“The processes ensures that all performance statements are reviewed before they are released for external use, whether these be in technical, sales or marketing activity, providing specifiers and customers with added assurance of the veracity of our product information.”
