Weekly News Bulletin – 7th September 2018

This week, we’ve shared several exciting announcements for both national and international events.

The dates for the National Apprenticeship Week 2019 have finally been announced – the annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships, which coincides with the National Careers Week this year, will take place 4th- 8th March 2019. After the record-breaking success of this year’s event, we will continue to celebrate the impact apprenticeships have on individuals, employers and the economy.

PBC Today revealed news about upcoming events, for example the BIM Show Live. It is the UK’s original BIM conference and, for 2019, it will take place in Newcastle upon Tyre on 27th-28th February 2019. The show brings digital construction content to life, attracting the world’s largest BIM leaders and pioneering thinkers. The show’s aim is to inspire and educate organisations on how to maximise their BIM potential. Tickets for the show are already on sale through the show’s website, where you can also find additional details about the event.

Another event to look out for is the Construction Summit Middle East 2018, taking place on September 18th in Dubai, at the Westin Mina al Seyahi. The event will bring together top executives from organisations such as Deloitte, Multiplex, AECOM and many more. Speakers will share how they deploy various technologies and how they have adopted BIM as a tool to enhance their businesses.

An engaging and thought-provoking piece in The Irish News this week saw David McNeice’s, senior associate at DWF Belfast, views on Brexit and what it could mean for the construction industry. Despite the uncertainties around Brexit over the past two years, David McNeice speaks about the countless opportunities if businesses prepare accordingly and embrace the changes. We recommend reading this piece to find out more about his optimistic views on embracing new ways to develop and innovate in order to maximise future opportunities.

Finally, another piece by PBC Today discussed the topic of CPD, its importance for the industry and the thoughts of our very own sales director of purlins, David Brown. As a result of Industry 4.0, technology is progressing steadily, and the construction industry needs to ensure it stays ahead of the curve. A more diverse workforce with various skills will help the industry to improve quality of work and continue driving the industry forward. Read more about the benefits to both organisations and professionals in this informative piece below.
