Metsec plc – Purlin Division supplied 60 tonnes of light gauge galvanised steel zed purlins and ‘C’-section side rails on two large industrial warehouse units in Coventry being developed by West Midlands-based developer Chase Commercial.

Metsec was specified because the high bay buildings required long span purlins. Over 11.5km of zed purlins and ‘C’-sections were supplied for the 7,000m² and 3,300m² twin span portal frame buildings. A heavy end bay system was used for the roof, the sections were mainly 232 mm deep, with lighter gauge 202 mm deep purlins on the internal bays, spanning up to 8m. Sleeved zed and C-sections were used for the side rail system along with 230 mm deep eaves beams.
