The stores are in portal frame buildings on edge-of-town retail parks. The building shells could not carry any additional loading so Metsec has supplied complete, stand alone frames to support the new ceiling grids as well as carry the mechanical and electrical services.

The 18.5m span joists were supplied in two halves to make them easier to handle and were bolted together in-situ. The open web nature of the joists allows for the simple passage of services.
