Metsec plc - Framing Division's light gauge steel framing system was used as the best possible structural solution for the six-storey hotel in Southampton. Creating a robust construction for the inner city hotel on a tight site close to a railway line.

The new 172 bed 5,500 sq.m Whitbread Travel Inn is six storeys of Metframe structure which also used Metsec curved lattice trusses which were inverted to create the hotel’s concave roof. Prefabrication was a key issue both to minimise the length of the construction programme and because of boundary constraints.
