Metsec Lattice Division has supplied long span, pitched and
tapered lightweight lattice trusses to support the hipped roof
of
a new Gurdwara, Sikh temple in Birmingham.
Working closely with the client and client's engineer, Metsec
engineers used their free in-house design and detailing service
and StruCad modelling software to simplify greatly the detailing
of the roof steelwork and especially the complicated gutter
steelwork required behind the Gurdwara dome.
The trusses, which spanned up to 15m with an 11 degree pitch,
were supplied in two halves for ease of handling and then bolted
together on site. Metsec also supplied approximately 400m of
cold rolled zed purlin and eaves beams to support the roof
sheeting.
