Craft Apprenticeships

We offer a 4 year training programme with the first year based in our own Training Centre in Oldbury (hyperlink to press release under Media Centre) where you will learn basic skills of machining, welding and tool making under close supervision.
In the second year you will be working throughout the business in production, maintenance, roll and tool design, toolroom, production control, quality, material procurement and internal sales. You will learn key skills in each work placement. At the end of this year you will produce an item of precision equipment working closely in a small team.
You will be surprised to hear this, but most second year apprentices are already adding value to the company – and this will grow significantly in the following two years.
In the third year, now that you have a good feel for the processes and products you will begin to specialize in your areas of interest. You will go much deeper into the process or service of interest.
In the fourth year you will be playing an important part in the team or department of your choice.
You will become qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 2 (with progression routes to level 3) as well as completing 5 Key Skills level 2, an Employee Rights and Responsibilities workbook, a Metals Industry Awareness course and a Technical Certificate that is relative to your career path.
If you wish to do further qualifications later, you will be encouraged to do so.
