4th August 2017 | In the news this week, we saw the continued industry reactions from the fallout from the Grenfell Tower fire, which began on the 14th June. This included UK Construction Week announcing that they will hold free, one-hour CPD-certified sessions that will address the specification and use of products from the viewpoint of safety, quality and fire prevention in buildings. These will be held at Birmingham NEC from the 10-12 October. We also shared how Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital has closed its trauma unit over the fire risk presented by its cladding for a 12-month programme of repairs.
In other industry news, it was announced that Landsec and Canary Wharf Group have sold their 50% stakes in the Walkie Talkie tower at 20 Fenchurch Street for a combined £1,282.5m. The buyer is Hong Kong based LKK Health Products Group Limited.
